Who is Mr. Maraschino? A brave mountaineer with a ruddy complexion.
His home is Ice Cream Mountain. He wears lederhosen because that's what mountaineers wear. He sits on the edge of banana-split dish before his climb, his rope at hand and his ice pick ready in case conditions get slippery.
Conditions can get difficult -- there are rivers of chocolate to ford. Blasts of whipped cream make holding a map difficult.
But, really, on Ice Cream Mountain there is only one direction to go: up. There are lots of signs that point to the summit.
He doesn't climb alone, however. His friend Pineapple Ring is there to help. One of Pineapple Ring's special talents is making a path by rolling through the deep coconut.
Is there danger in climbing Ice Cream Mountain, sure. Out of nowhere, a spoon might appear and scoop up ice cream and chocolate and leave Mr. Maraschino hanging. Even worse, Pineapple Ring might suffers vertigo on a creme biscuit bridge. Do you suppose that rolling yourself over a bridge is easy?
As a bonus, I've included in this gallery some scenes from Mr. Maraschino's more famous movies.
Perhaps you remember him sitting at a sidewalk cafe in Paris saying adieu to his sweetheart as olive-headed dough boys marched off to the front. He appeared with the same starlet in a re-make of Romeo and Juliet ("Maraschino and Juliet"). Pictured here is the classic scene where he swung from the ivy and waved at Juliet.
He has also starred in adventure films. Perhaps you remember him with Captain Jack Sparrow and a chest of pirate gold.
