The relationship between shoe leather and frosting

The artist sees something beautiful -- it's a butterfly -- and attempts to re-create it; here, as the decoration in frosting on a cake. But those two guys in front have stolen a piece of the cake and put a boot in its place. And the artist has frosted over the shoe leather. How sad!
